Look! It's the Old North Church... just kidding.

When we were at Faneuil Hall Papa said that the Old North Church was right around the corner so we decided to walk quickly over to see it and then go to the aquarium after. Little did we know that the quick walk turned into an all day quest to find it. Who knew it would be so hard! Nana and/or Papa would point them out to us as we walked along. Since Aaron and I had never been to Boston we didn't say anything. We were faked out four times before we actually saw the real one but we got to walk the freedom trail and learned a lot. In Papa's words, "who would have ever guessed that there are actually five Old North Churches in Boston!!"

Old North Church #1 a.k.a. Old State house. On July 18, 1776 the Declaration of Independence was read for the first time to the citizens of Boston from the Eastern Balcony (pictured above us). This is also where we saw the backhoe loader and Tom Hanks.

Old North Church #2 a.k.a. Old South Meeting House. Benjamin Franklin was baptized here and on December 16, 1773 more than 5,000 colonists met here to protest tax on tea and heard Samuel Adams give the signal that started the Boston Tea Party.

While going to take our picture Papa was talking to a man who asked him what he was doing and Papa told him he was taking a picture of his family in front of the Old North Church, only to feel pretty silly afterward.

Old North Church #3 a.k.a. Park Street Congregational Church built in 1809. Nothing exciting happened here but while we were trying to take a picture we couldn't get a good view because of the trees. Nana said, "I have taken a picture from this same spot and had this problem last time". Come to find out later that it wasn't the Old North Church, but that she'd still been there so she was half right.

Old North Church #4 a.k.a. St. Stephen's Church originally called New North Church. The bell was cast by Paul Revere. This one really faked us out because we'd looked at a map and got our bearings and it was right along the freedom trail on the correct side of Boston. It even had a Statue of Paul Revere facing it. But alas it was not the right one but from it we saw the only true and correct Old North Church.

Old North Church #5 officially known as Christ Church in the City of Boston. "The enduring fame of the Old North began on the evening of April 18, 1775, when the church sexton, Robert Newman, climbed the steeple and held high two lanterns as a signal from Paul Revere that the British were marching to Lexington and Concord by sea and not by land. This fateful event ignited the American Revolution" (from the official website oldnorth.com).

So, in the end we found it and had a great adventure and some good laughs. I even got a charm that has the Old North Church on it to commemorate my trip.
