Family Pictures

We got our family pictures done today and I really like them. Amelia has this new thing that if she sees someone new she just stares them down. She won't talk or smile. It was kind of funny to try to get her to do any expression but we captured her stare nicely.

I really like this picture of the three kids but Miya isn't looking and of course, Amelia isn't smiling. It's interesting because Amelia is the happiest baby but just isn't comfortable around strangers.

A family shot. I like this one because we're all so cute and Miya is tickling Aaron.

This one we got for our wall. I love how we are all festive in the red and green but it's not over- bearing.

Follow the Scientist?

Spencer loves to sing. He's so cute with the variety of songs he chooses. His favorites are "Old McDonald Carnivore" and "Follow the Prophet". He's become quite good at the latter. For those who know the song he can even sing the verse about Adam.

He chose that for his nighttime song the other night. After we sang the Adam verse and the chorus he wasn't done so we asked him which other prophets he knew. He quickly replied, "Howard Hunter". I was shocked because he was the prophet for so short a time and it was so long before Spencer was born. We asked him if he knew who the prophet was now and he said he didn't know. He must have been having a senior moment because he totally knows. To try and give him a hint I said his first name is Thomas. "Oh," he says, "I know, it's Thomas Edison." ?!?!? Where did that one come from? I told him that Thomas Edison wasn't actually a prophet. Then I asked him if he knew what Thomas Edison did. He said, "Yeah, he made bulbs!"

This kid totally blows my socks off sometimes.

Big Table and Big Fun

Hello and welcome back to the Schloemer Fam blog. It's been awhile. We've been busy but not picture worthy busy. Here are a few random ones we've taken in the last three weeks.
-----

Our makeshift table legs weren't working well for many reasons so Aaron, with the help of cute boy Spencer, crafted some new ones.
-----

To craft the legs it had to be upside down and Amelia was taking advantage of the new fun space to play. She's getting so big!!
-----

Seeing Amelia have a good time the kids stormed her play space. I love her face with Spencer's hand on her head. He does that all the time and she makes this face every time. It makes me laugh.
-----

The new table is the perfect height for Aaron.
-----

Unfortunately the rest of us aren't so tall. The poor kids were struggling just to see over the top.
-----

The poor baby was even worse and this is with her on a booster seat. The new table is just a bit too tall, but it's quite stable.
-----

It had been a while since I got a picture of the three of them just being together so I took advantage of the cute corn pool scenery.
-----

Miya had been asking for weeks to go back to the "apple farm" so she could see the horses and she was so excited that they were so close to the fence this time. They were soaking up her love as they munched.
-----

My little man Spencer is getting a lot more brave lately. It was actually his idea to feed this goat right out of his hand. It was so cute because the goat tickled him and he kept laughing as it ate.
-----

I love how Miya makes the goat come to her. The poor little thing had to stretch a great deal to get the corn she offered.

Beautifying in General

I was coming home from visiting teaching the other day and I couldn't get to my house. They were fixing up our road. I had to try three different ways before I finally made it to our driveway. When I got home I told the kids they were going to come down our street and they couldn't wait to go outside and watch. I really love this first picture because the guy is waving to the kids as they are sitting on the sidewalk watching everything go by.

Miya, of course, wasn't content to just sit and watch. This roller guy kept going back and forth and Miya was racing him. It was great! Spencer took turns between watching Miya run and watching the truck as he sat in his chair.

This is the last batch going through after they were all done. Spencer loved watching them and was really sad to see them go. He keeps asking me, "if we go outside will there be trucks fixing the road?" He is sad when I tell him it was a one time thing. Poor kid.

We decided to rearrange our house in an effort to make it better and more functional. We moved every piece of furniture on our bottom floor including our book collection (over 700). This is a picture of the in between stage with all our books on the floor. A few are tucked behind the chair where you can't see them but you get the idea, we have a lot of books! We decided to make what was the library the dining room because it has wood floors as opposed to the carpet that our table was over. It should make cleaning up after my messy kids a lot easier.

Let's Go Fly a Kite!

It was a really windy day today so for family night we decided to fly out kite. It was really hard to keep this kite in the air. I don't know if the problem was the wind, the kite, or our limited ability in flying but it kept plummeting to the ground. Here's poor Spencer ducking so it doesn't whack him as it goes by.
-----

The kids loved chasing the kite and trying to grab the strings as it flew. It was fun to watch them go.
-----

The baby and I even got a turn to fly it. The baby was more interested in the handle and kept trying to pry it out of my hand so she could test for nutritional value.
-----

Aaron did most of the kite flying because he was just better at it than I was. It was fun to take pictures of all the fun too.
-----

Spencer had a go with the kite and he did really well. I think he got it up the farthest of all of us.
-----

Miya did well too but she kept giggling the whole time.
-----

I bet you could guess what happened to the kite next. Miya kept walking toward the kite and before I knew it the kite was right next to this tree and I noticed just it time to see it all tangled up. Later we had to stage a rescue and we were going to get pictures but I was too busy holding the ladder so Aaron didn't plummet to his death.
-----

Amelia loved hanging out in the grass and watching us fly the kite. I also think she may have sampled some grass at some point but I didn't see it for myself so you never know.

Let the Good Times Roll!

We have this really awesome trail by our house and Aaron wanted to take the kids so they could have a good run on their trike. Our driveway is gravel, well lately it's mostly plants, so they can't get too far or too fast. We let Spencer pedal all the way there and he was so excited to go in the street like a car. He was so funny every time a car would pass by though he kept saying, "I'm here! Watch out for me!"
-----

Miya kept wanting a turn to push the baby. She had a lot of fun but decided quickly it was too much work and ran ahead instead.
-----

So I know her jammies are manly but look at how cute she is anyway! I love the holding on with the foot and the hand too. She always holds on whenever she's on the move whether it's in the car seat, stroller, walker, or in someone's arms.
-----

Spencer on the trail. He pedaled all of what is behind him. We went about 3/4 of a mile round trip and he rode nearly the entire time (there was a hill leading to the trail that was too steep for him to go up or down).
-----

Explorer Miya off in the distance. I actually got one where she was further down the trail but you couldn't really tell it was a person she was so tiny. She kept coming back and telling us to "COME ON!"
-----

Sassy little Miya, I love her. She got a turn with the trike too but not a very long one. She prefers running free.

Amelia - Seven Months

8-31 Amelia is such a blessing in our lives. She is such as sweet and happy little girl I can't get enough of her, even when she's grumpy she's still so sweet! Amelia is getting to be such a big girl. I'm amazed at how big she looks sitting in this chair.

9-3 Amelia has gotten so good at sitting lately. She even can correct her balance when she reaches for things. And look how cute she is doing it! She was playing with a horse in the background. She loves to chew on anything now, I think teeth must be on the way.

9-5 Amelia was playing with the barbie hairbrush and instantly Silly Songs with Larry - The Hairbrush Song came into my head. For those who don't know it the applicable part goes like this...

Junior: "Why do you need a hairbrush? You don't have any hair!"

Narrator: "Larry is taken aback. The thought had never occured to him. No hair? What would this mean? What will become of him? What will become of his hairbrush? Larry wonders ..."

Larry: "No hair for my hairbrush. No hair for my hairbrush. No hair, no hair, no where, no hair, no hair, no hair, no where back there, no hair ... for my hairbrush."

9-5 Amelia attacked "Carnivore" (that's what Spencer calls his T-Rex because it eats meat) with the hairbrush next. Spencer came up and was talking to Amelia. "Ya know baby, he doesn't have any hair, you can't brush him" Maybe this is why she then went for his teeth. Teeth need brushes too right?

9-5 Amelia is seven months old today. I am amazed as the months go by at how she is learning and growing. She said "mama" for the first time yesterday. It was wonderful! She was playing with a toy and dropped it and was babbling away but she got my attention when she said "mama". I looked over and she reached and grunted for the toy. When I gave it to her she made a kiss noise and patted my arm. What a good girl!
