Back to School Night

8/16 - Spencer was really excited about his school supplies this year. I was surprised at how many of each thing he needed like the 10 glue sticks and 12 pencils. He loved his fun folders and reused his backpack from last year. He got lace up shoes and some velcro ones for gym that are a size 13, he's so big! We got a picture of him with all his goodies just before back to school night when we dropped it all off in his new classroom.

8/16 - I seriously love buying school supplies. It's my all time favorite thing! I used to buy new markers and crayons every year even when I didn't have school kids. Shopping for Miya's first school supplies was so much fun! I love her cute folders, especially the one with the kitty on it because it's just so my Miya. Her backpack is so fun with the camo animal print. For kindergarten they need 12" square pillows so I made her one with two little pillow cases. Now she can't wait for nap time at school. Her gym shoes are super fancy with sparkles on the sides and are a size 13, same as Spencer this year.

8/16 - Miya already loves her teacher Mrs. Upah. Spencer had her last year and she has heard so many fun stories. Miya bravely walked right up to her and started chatting away.
8/16 - I love how adorable Miya looks at her new desk! I can't wait to hear about her adventures in kindergarten.
8/16 - Spencer is a big first grader this year and his teacher is Mrs. Dietrich. He was a bit shy with her but warmed up quickly. He loves that she has a baby in her belly due in October.

8/16 - Miya and Spencer had a talk about buses last week and he told her there were no seat belts or car seats. She freaked out just like he did last year. Spencer reassured her that she would be safe as long as she stayed sitting and told her that buses don't go very fast "and that's a problem if you have to go potty really bad!" Thus he suggested she always go before she gets on the bus. As a result of this fun conversation Miya was not worried and all smiles when she hopped on the bus out front at back to school night and all the kids loved playing on it for a few minutes.

8/16 - Spencer went to the back of the bus to check it out. He never got to sit in the back last year because all the big kids were there. Plus, he was a big fan of sitting next to the emergency exit door, "just in case there's a problem."

8/16 - Spencer looks pretty adorable in front of the sign for his school. This elementary holds kindergarten through second grade.

8/16 - Miya was telling me all the letters on the sign and is totally ready for kindergarten at Ballard West Elementary.
