Fun and First Steps

7/13 - Spencer is such a great big brother. He loves playing with his little sisters and little brother. Amelia wanted to have a horsey ride and I wasn't feeling up to it so he let her hop on his back and carried her back and forth across the house until he was too tired to do it anymore. I was shocked he made it all the way once and was quite amazed when he kept going.

7/14 - This kids made this ingenious yet precarious stack in order to help them climb this tree. They'd been trying to climb it before but couldn't quite get up to the bottom branches.

7/15 - Alex found and applied Aaron's safety glasses. Pretty cute, huh? You should see Aaron in them.

7/15 - Alex has been on the verge of walking for what seemed like months now. I was convinced he could do it if he wanted to. I was playing with a fork I found on our carpet and Alex was standing near me. I could tell he wanted the fork so I told him to come get it and was surprised when he took three steps and did just that. I had to run and get the camera and have him try again which he did. Hurray for newly upwardly-mobile Alex.

7/15 - I kept having him walk to me again and again because it was just so darn fun. The big three were having fun with it too and you can see Amelia cheering him on.

7/15 - Eventually interest in the fork faded and I had to use his Woody doll as bait. It worked too! However, it's difficult to hold a Woody doll, take a picture, and coax on a baby at the same time. Thus, his little head is not all in the picture.

7/16 - For all four of the kids we've went out for ice cream to celebrate when they first walked. It was nearly bed time and Aaron was at work so we saved Alex's ice cream for the next day and we went to the Dairy Queen down the street. He got a Strawberry sundae and loved it.

7/16 - Here he's telling me to stop taking pictures and give him more sundae. Poor mom just had to capture this fun tradition.

7/16 - He decided on a little self-serve while I snagged just one more shot.

You always do such a great job of documenting your daily family life! I love how detailed all of your descriptions are. I feel like I know your children even though I've never met them :)

What a great job Alex. Nana and Papa are so proud of you walking, and eating the ice cream. I love the fact the he feels the "forget you I'll do it myself."
