The Durham Museum

3/16 - Our next stop was the Durham Museum which was the old Omaha Union Station that Union Pacific passenger trains ran to back in the day (notice a train theme here?) The kids were excited to be able to play with and touch more train stuff.

They had these statues around the old station and they'd talk when you got close to them. Miya sat down on the bench and very stealthily sled over, it was so funny. Spencer had to join her and they were plotting against the statues and where they would poke it to see if it was a real person.

They let us trade them a drivers' license for a stroller, it was a pretty good deal. It was pink which was unfortunate for baby Alex, but Amelia loved pushing it around.

Here are the kids walking around in an old caboose.

There was a little bed on the caboose and Spencer decided to take a rest.

Spencer and Miya hopping on a train.

They had a cute model train set complete with people and little cars.

Alex in the Pullman car taking a nap. I guess they planned these for shorter people because I know I wouldn't fit.

Spencer and Miya wanted to climb up on the bed too.

They had a Native American exhibit at the Durham and they had some fun stuff for the kids to play in.

The kids in the tee pee. Amelia loved pushing Alex around in it.

The kids with a buffalo. The bench the big two are sitting on is covered with a buffalo hide and we loved touching it. Amelia didn't like it. She kept saying, "I don't like it cow!"

I think they liked the street car the best. Amelia loved all the aisle room. I laughed seeing the new twisty light bulbs in the old train car.

Peeking out the window of the street car.

Spencer practicing his derails. They had a little experiment where the kids could see which type of wheel stayed on the track best. Spencer found all the wrong ones first.

This was a pretty fun thing. You push the handle and it makes the wheels go. The girls worked together to make it go really fast.
